MARY ANN CHERRY

Artist Statement:
Mary Ann is a signature member of both the Pastel Society of America and the Women Artists of the West. She is co-founder of the Pastel Society of the Northern Rockies. She is also a member of the Snake River Plein Air Painters in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and recently won People's Choice at their annual exhibition..

Cherry has been featured in the Wildlife Art Magazine's "Artists' Viewpoint". She's also been a finalist in both the Pastel Journal Magazine's "Pastel 100" competition and the American Artists' Magazine's annual competition. Cherry won the first statewide parks competition, "Idaho Paints Idaho", with her pastel, "Hot Day at Massacre Rocks".

Mary Ann works in soft pastel, watercolor or oils. Cherry's studio is near the Snake River in Idaho, where wildlife and birds are abundant. Consequently, wildlife and animals are a favorite choice of subject. She is, however, comfortable with any subject matter and is a prolific painter.

She accepts commissions and is always available for workshops in oil, watercolor or pastel.

Mary Ann was pleased to win several awards at the Phippen Museum Memorial Day weekend show 2007...first place in pastel, the Phippen Foundation Award, and also Best of Show overall. The painting that took the awards was purchased for the museum's permanent collection, which was also a fabulous thrill for her. The url is below.

Mary Ann was also statewide winner of the first "Idaho Paints Idaho" competition sponsored by Idaho State Parks and Recreation and 2006 winner of the Southeastern Regional Award. She has been an award winner at the Phippen Museum show in Prescott, Arizona in the past as well, and a regular exhibitor at the C.M. Russell art show in Great Falls, Montana.
