Amenda Tate has been designing and creating cutting edge jewelry
since 1996. She studied Mechanical Engineering before realizing that her
interest in "how things work" would be better satisfied in a more
creatively aesthetic mode -- jewelry and metalsmithing. Amenda's work strikes
a chord that resonates a fine balance of opposites: organic/mechanical, natural/processed,
predictable/unexpected and she creates alliterations in metal that possess a
rhythmic quality in form. Through hand forging and fabrication, and by combining these processes with innovative practices, her designs result in jewelry that embodies a
sculptural presence. Amenda's work is individually handcrafted one piece at a time in her
Denver, Colorado studio.
"My works are contemplations entertaining the idea that objects can be
both organic in form and relation as well as mechanical in a functional
format and can thus become objects of adornment."
